The End of Isolation Documentary invites Audiences into a New Paradigm for Justice: Help us celebrate and build!
Dear End of Isolation Community,
One year ago, nine theater activists embarked on a two-month tour, traveling 8,000 miles in a converted school bus to ten communities across the U.S. We performed The BOX, a critically acclaimed play about collective resistance to solitary confinement. In the words of D.C. theater critic John Stoltenberg, “I cannot recall a theater experience that had a greater lock on the conscience of its audience. It was not just good theater, it was phenomenal.”
Now, we are making a documentary! This film will be a culmination of the creative, journalistic, and collaborative work I’ve done over the last 13 years, telling stories about the hideous inhumanity of our prison system, but it will also be much more than that. In this documentary, we invite you into the minds of people who survived prison and went on to transform their communities, the visionary thought leaders on the frontlines of reimagining justice in our country and laying the foundation for a better future. I’m proud to say we're nearly halfway towards completing our first cut and you can watch our promo video here:
We’ve been working hard but we’re running out of funds. That’s why I’m asking you to make a tax-deductible donation for my 45th birthday (yesterday).
This project was kicked off in January by a generous grant from the Mellon Foundation. In order to complete our first cut by the end of the year we need to raise another 120,000. Your donation will go towards 2D animation overlapping stunning drone footage that will invite our audience into the possibility of a new paradigm, one in which we address and respond to harm in our communities in ways that transform our society as a whole.
Thank you for your consideration and your support!
